The new Patek Philippe Aquanaut Jumbo 5168G isn't an updated model concept, but it's updated in many ways, at least visually. Mechanically, the Aquanaut is still powered by a slim (3.3mm), central rotor calibre 324 SC (seconde centrale), date 3, Patek Philippe seal and three hands with -3/+2 seconds/day. As you might have guessed from the official "Jumbo" name, the main evolution was an increase in diameter. The Patek Philippe Aquanaut Jumbo 5168G, which used to be only 40mm (small on the wrist), is now 42mm in 18k white gold - still water resistant to 120 meters. Without the thought of drama, this watch retains its relative elegance, just adding a touch of modernity.
On the dial side, the Patek Philippe Aquanaut Jumbo 5168G pioneers a new color that perfectly matches its aquatic intent: navy blue, with a slightly gradient dial (darker on the periphery). It retains the embossed checkerboard pattern of the model. Sure, the date sits slightly less on the edge of the dial than before due to the increased diameter, but nothing shocking either.
