The system needs to be OSRS GP overhauled to be more compatible with PvP. The current combat system makes it too offensively-oriented and effective for PvP. Perhaps adding some defensive abilities and reducing the power of attack capabilities at the very least in the presence of players could be a step in the right direction. Of course, I'd take a listener's advice from the players for ideas. Jagex has been doing this since its beginning, even although it might not be 100% efficiency.
We have completed the first event in the world and are close to the halfway mark of the second. I think it's a great time to compare and choose which one you prefer. The first was my favorite, partly because I was able to participate and it was brand new. It was nerfed, though. Here are some reasons why:
1. The loser won't be killed off. I believe that various storylines (such as the cave goblin one) may be less effective if you kill off Bandos. Yes, quests do happen in the past. But why bother if you can just let him die? Zamorak was exiled during the very first quest. But, I think he is still around Runescape with an ardent and loyal following. He is nowhere near irrelevant/dead and appears in Missing Presumed Death (which I presume takes place after the first world event).
2. Central 2. Central. I dislike the way the Bird and the Beast events are distributed across the freeplay universe. It's difficult to grasp a concept of what is happening when certain parts of the event are taking place across the globe. Lumbridge was the most easy to understand, but I struggled for hours in the Bird and the Beast. While I might be slow in my thinking and appreciate complexity, simplicity is something I find most important in my life.
3, Experience: Most people love the construction xp for free. It took me some time to earn 1xp, and I think it was at about 5k/hour. Perhaps it's because I have only 26 construction skills?
4, Even sides. Even rs2007 gold though Jagex and I aren't able to manage this, it's a fun event when the sides are somewhat even. Everyone knew Saradomin was going to win the first one too however, it was at least a little closer. PvP is also a problem, and this may be the reason why people are more vocal.
