Ahead of Major League Baseballs 2014 Winter Meetings beginning on Dec. 7, the leagues 30 general managers are in the midst of off-season renovations. TSN.ca looks at the days hottest rumours as free agent season is in full swing. Two-Man Race? The sprint to land high-prized Cuban free agent Yasmany Tomas looks to be down to two teams. MLB.coms Jesse Sanchez reported Friday that the Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres are the frontrunners to land the 24-year-old outfielders services, however, Tomas and his camp are considering attending the winter meetings in December. Tomas, who spent five seasons with Havana Industriales of the Serie Nacional in Cuba, appeared at a showcase in front of scouts from all 30 major league teams in September and worked out privately for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Dodgers, Seattle Mariners, Giants, Padres, Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals. It is believed Tomas could be looking for a five- to seven-year deal in the $15 million annual salary range, but Sanchez reports he will not rule out a short-term, high-value deal that would allow him to return to the market sooner rather than later. Odd-Man Out? The Cincinnati Reds have loads of talent but are running out of room for all of their big names. And according to FOX Sports Ken Rosenthal, two-time All-Star right fielder Jay Bruce might be the man on the outside when any and all deals fall into place. Rosenthal reported Thursday that club officials say the team is more listening to inquiries about players rather than shopping them, but that trading Bruce could bode well financial if the team were to look forward to retooling the roster. The Padres are believed to be in the mix, sources say. Bruce appeared in 137 games last season, batting .217 with 18 home runs and 66 RBIs with a .654 OPS. He is owed $12 million in 2015, $12.5 million in 2016 and has a $13 million club option for 2017. Teams could have an alternative to Bruce, though. Rosenthals FOX colleague, Jon-Paul Morosi, tweeted on Friday afternoon that the Tampa Bay Rays have made outfielder Matt Joyce available. Joyce, 30, is heading into his final year of arbitration, so it doesnt come as a surprise that the budget-conscious Rays would consider moving him. According to several reports on Sunday, the Bills will soon name Ryan their new head coach as he will remain in the state of New York after being let go by the New York Jets in late December. Buffalo had interviewed 12 candidates for the position that was made vacant after Doug Marrone opted out of his contract on Dec. 31, and decided to go with Ryan, who was fired after guiding the Jets for six seasons. Ryan parted ways with New York after the team posted a 4-12 mark, which included an eight-game losing streak, to finish last in the AFC East. It was the worst record the team posted during Ryans tenure with the club, which missed the playoffs for a fourth straight year.dddddddddddd He finished his tenure with a 46-50 mark. Led by a strong defense, the Bills notched a 9-7 record in 2014, their first winning season since 2004.
